Guaranteed Reserve Forces Duty (GRFD) Scholarship

 This scholarship commits one to join the Reserve Components, either the National Guard or Army Reserves (duty for one weekend a month / two weeks a year).

Duration of Scholarship:

Maximum of 2 years, minimum of 1 year.

Restrictions:

Student must be in the SMP program (either National Guard or Army Reserves) and attend training for one weekend a month and two weeks a year (usually over the summer).

Commitment:

8 Years in the Reserve Components (one weekend a month / two weeks a year).

GPA:

Have and maintain a 2.5 college GPA.

Deployable:

Not during college. After you graduate you will be deployable.

Money:

Either full tuition and fees or room and board (up to $10,000 if you live on campus and up to $7,800 if you live off campus).

Books:

$1200 per year ($450 per semester).

Stipend:

  • $300 per month for freshmen
  • $350 per month for sophomores
  • $450 per month for juniors
  • $500 per month for seniors

Drill Pay:

You will be paid as an E5 at drill and Annual Training ($247 per weekend).

Other:

Can be used with the HOPE and other scholarships. Can be used with all chapters of the GI Bill. Cannot be converted to a Regular ROTC scholarship.
